  • Welcome to Chad Stewart Photography

I enjoy photographing wildlife, people, nature, landscapes, and sports/action photography. I photograph on location in and around DC/VA/MD and use natural light whenever possible, with supplemental light when necessary.  To get the best natural light early mornings or evenings are the best times.

Good morning

A nice sunrise. I’m surprised how many people are here at this hour.

Snapshots of life

I recently read this blog post and I agree with it.  Recently I have been scanning in old family photos and these photographs have so much meaning to me.  Nearly all them are just snapshots of my family members doing various things in the daily lives.  Recently my daughters grandmother came to town and we hiking in a park.  At the end we came across this tree, which is the most unique tree I have ever seen.  I only had a point and shoot camera with me so I grabbed a quick shot of my daughter and her grandmother.   I will be going back to shoot the tree when I get time.  Recently I decided to spend the money I got for christmas last year on more Lensbaby lenses, the single glass, plastic optic, and the pinhole/zone plate optic and the soft focus optic.  On my wish list is the fisheye for Lensbaby.  I have a normal fisheye lens and enjoy it.

The other photo is from one of our daily walks in the neighborhood.  We could not find my daughter’s sun glasses, so she borrowed a pair from mommy.  This is one of those shots that in years will bring a warm smile to my heart as I look back on it.

Playtime in the bath tub

My wife said “hey we should get some photographs of our son splashing in the tub”.  I had my camera out (which I’ve not done in way too long) so I grabbed it and took some shots.  Being unplanned the back ground was cluttered with stuff, but otherwise the photos turned out nicely.
