Fort Worth Log Cabin – Shaw Cabin and Gristmill
Earlier this week I went to the Fort Worth Log Cabin Village for the first time. My daughter had been there before and made her own candles and really loved playing in one of the cabins. I grew up in a farm house that was built in 1850 so exposed beams and other things in the village seemed common place.
When I last shutdown Aperture I apparently left it on a photograph I took of Shaw Cabin and Girstmill. Tonight when I started up Aperture the image really struck me. I’m now sharing that image with you. I have others that I’m still processing and hope to share someday.

For those interested in what processing I did: 5 bracketed shots, HDR Efex Pro, then Silver Efex Pro for conversion to B&W and the TinType filter. I’ve been reading about TinType lately and have thoughts of maybe someday using that form of photography, certainly creates one of a kind images. Until I get the time and expertise to do real TinType photography my modern darkroom will have to suffice. I thought TinType would be appropriate here given the date of many items at the village and when TinType photography came about, 1850s according to Wikipedia.

Soccer – October 29, 2011
Yesterday the game was just past noon so the light was harsh and bright, though being late in the year in was a little lower in the sky. For the first half of the game we bribed the referee (our coach played both roles) but it didn’t help, the other team scored a few more goals than us. Oh well when the kids are this age, it is more important that they have fun. I am disappointed only one game left. I have been having a lot of fun watching the games and taking pictures. I find photography a lot more rewarding than my 9-5 job in Information Technology.
All pictures are uploaded to my “store” so you can view/download/order prints, etc.. You can download the originals at no cost, for personal use only.

Last week I decided I want to try and get a good picture of each kid on the team, in other words, action but with each kid the focus and hopefully isolated. This week I managed to get the 4 of us out the door and to the game early. I was able to focus on the warm up and managed to get quite a few good pictures I think. I’ve sorted through the hundreds of pictures I grabbed for clearly bad shots. There are still hundreds of pictures. I’m posting them here for people to view.
I will be putting them on my “store” so you can view/download the originals, or order prints, etc.. I will update this post when I get that completed.

Soccer – Look at that kick!
I think this photograph qualifies as “the money shot” for todays soccer game. I haven’t even finished the first look through the hundreds of photos I took this morning. I came across this shot and had to share it! I will be printing this in 8 x 10 size and giving it to his parents. The YMCA is having a photo contest this season but the rules say I have to submit a photo of my child. Too bad as I would certainly submit this one if I could. Do you like it? Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Soccer – a very fun game
I enjoyed this game a lot, it was sunny and warm instead of the last game which was cooler and wet. People have asked how to download the photographs and before I did not have an easy way for people to do that. I hope what I have done will make it easier for parents to either download a version of the photograph for the personal use or you can purchase prints right from my “store“. I signed up for an account with SmugMug.com and have setup a gallery for these pictures. On SmugMug you can get prints, calendars, coffee mugs, and other various things my these pictures. With the holiday season coming I know I’ll be ordering a few things for the grandparents, etc..
Below I have a slide show of the pictures. If you want to download any of them (FOR FREE) you can view them at my store along with getting prints made, etc. I certainly hope you enjoy them, and please leave a comment, I always appreciate the feedback.
Note — you can view the pictures full screen if you wish. In the lower right hand corner of the slide show are some icons, click on the middle one to view the pictures full screen.
You can find the gallery of photographs here for downloading or getting prints.
